Lt. Col. Dennis H. Bennett
Tyler Composite Squadron
Texas Wing

Dennis Howard Bennett went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 16, 2023. Left to treasure his memory are his wife Ann of Whitehouse; his daughter Michele (Billy) of Tyler; his son Sean (Lynn) of Ft. Worth; his granddaughters Sarah Hackett (Lance) and Alyssa Shields (John); Elizabeth and Katherine Bennett; great-grandchildren Gabby and Rowan Hackett and Andrew, Conner, Daniel and Jack Shields; as well as the beloved daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of his wife Ann.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father Howard Bennett and his mother Selma Bennett and his brothers Robert and Alan Bennett.

Born on May 9, 1939, in Bonaparte, Iowa, Dennis transferred to Texas in his career with the United States Postal Service. In 1988 he was appointed postmaster of Price, Texas where he served until his retirement in 2002.

Dennis served proudly in the United States Air Force which led him to become involved with the Civil Air Patrol in Tyler, where he served several years as wing commander of the squadron. His 37 years with the squadron was an important part of his life and he was able to use his skills as a pilot, photographer and amateur radio operator. He was also a member of the Tyler Amateur Radio Club and enjoyed his lifetime involvement with ham radio. Another love was music and playing his guitar. He made many friends through this hobby and enjoyed many hours of "jamming".

Dennis was a deacon at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and served faithfully.
