Title: Essay Grading
Post by: captrncap on November 16, 2005, 05:25:14 AM
Can anyone tell me how to use the Essay Grading Critique form to grade cadet essays? The instructions are somewhat confusing. Does each column get a -1, 0, +1, +2 or does each subtopic get a point value?

For each main category subtopic, decide whether the essay is outstanding (+2), excellent (+1), satisfactory (0), or marginal (-1). The subtotal for each category is the sum of the subtopic scores for the category. If the category is double point value, multiply the category subtotal by 2. The final score is the sum of the subtotals.

The final score must be at least +1 for the cadet to pass, with the stipulation that neither of the double-point categories (organization and mechanics) can have a subtotal less than zero.

(The above explanation pretty much duplicates the fine-print instructions on the essay critique form, but hopefully my paraphrasing will help clear up your confusion.)
