Volunteer Emergency Services Recruitment and Retention Report

This is a link http://www.nvfc.org/pdf/2007-retention-and-recruitment-guide.pdf to a report from the US Fire Administration on recruitment and retention issues among volunteer emergency services agencies (primarily firefighters and EMS). 

The basic conclusions are this:
QuoteIndividuals are still willing to give their time to volunteer emergency services organizations provided the following:
• The experience is rewarding and worth their time.
• The training requirements are not excessive.
• The time demands are adaptable and manageable.
• They are rewarded with a personal sense of value.
• There is good leadership minimizing conflict.
• There is ample support for the organization.

Just about the whole report could equally apply to CAP.  Strongly recommended....

Thank you for posting that link :clap:   Well I renewed for another year, but I will again next year review the pros & cons of membership.   The report is very good because it's pretty much IMHO what is happening in CAP today (e.g. increased training requirements).  Does anyone know if national headquarter's ever did a study on why volunteers leave CAP?
