Served in the CAP from 1985-2006 and retired...Master rated, CAPP-206. Served in Florida, Virginia, Texas, Kentucky and Alabama until retirement. Check the discussion board maybe twice a year. Maybe interested in rejoining CAP one of these days.....enjoying "retirement!" Would like to salute all members presently serving or also retired from CAP! Thank you each for your individual service!

Dont let these discussion boards scare you away, someone with your experience should know that things never change ;) In the 80's we griped about pickle suits and wanted BDU's. Now we have them and we gripe cause we want ABU's--- feel free to rejoin and enjoy the right to gripe more than twice a year. Retirement is nice but can get boring 8)

Military Service

US Army - Infantry: 1991 - 1995

Army National Guard - Infantry: 1995 - 2001 (Bosnia-Herzegovina - Operation Joint Guard 1997)

Air National Guard - Security Forces: 2004 - Present (Afghanistan - Operation Enduring Freedom 2011)

CAP service

Cadet - Florida Wing: 1987 - 1991

Senior - National Capital Wing: 1992 - 2006

Senior - Florida Wing: 2006 - Present

With a short break in service between cadet and senior membership, I joined back as a young senior (20) because I enjoyed it so much as a cadet I wanted to continue enjoying it.  I quickly learned that senior membership was often more work than "fun", but the work became fun and well worth it.  As a young senior member I was mentored by the best of the best, older, more experienced senior members, most of whom were military veterans and former cadets.  Sometimes I don't know which is better, my cadet experiences or my experiences as a young senior member from the early nineties.

I am inactive these days but have an open offer to my local squadron to ask for my assistance to drive a van, run PT, or be the 2nd senior member at an activity so cadets can enjoy themselves.  Once my 2 kids grow up a little (they're 4 and 6), I'm hoping to become active again.
Serving since 1987.

Pump Scout

US Army Reserve 1991-1992 (unit shut down)
US Army National Guard 1992-1997

Cavalry Scout during my time. Never went any further than some of the garden spots of CONUS. Ft Knox, Camp Shelby, Ft Irwin. Came into CAP as a return of sorts. I was a cadet at the age of 12, stayed for a year, left with a bad taste from a lack of direction and terrible cadet leadership. Came back with my daughter... I wanted to have a local/regional/national mission again, and she wanted to experience some of the military life, get into the air, and learn about flying in general.

I have no military service to speak of.

Retired USAF a bit over 20 years, fighting the "Cold War" as an airman, NCO, & Officer serving in the following commands:   Military Airlift Command,  AF Postal & Courier Service (support US AF Europe (The United State Logistics Group)), Strategic Air Command, Air Training Command,  US Military Entrance Processing Command (Joint Service), Alaskan Air Command, AF Systems Command.

The reason I joined CAP was to be involved in emergency services (primarily in radio communications support) and to help out in other functional areas within my volunteer comfort zone & limitations.
