Silly Question (besides the obvious) what do most people wear under a flight suit? ???

JohnKachenmeister

Boxers and a black Harley-Davidson "T" shirt.  Why do you ask, big boy?

I'm gonna leave what I personally prefer wear to your little imagination.  But I can tell you what certain females have kinda forced me to wear after realizing what I truly wore underneath it.  Standard black T-shirt with khaki shorts.

I do need to get some more black tee shirts

Cold WX- Black Under Armour ColdGear tops and bottoms if needed

Moderate WX- Black Hooters T-Shirt (Tempe, AZ) or Black UND Fighting Sioux Hockey T-Shirt (for luck of course)

Hot WX- Black Under Armour Heat Gear top (Considering purchacing a Loose Gear T shirt)

I am not on an endorsement contract for Under Armour. I do want to say this stuff is not just for the NFL... I have found it is great for flying purposes too

Except that, in the extremely rare possibility of a fire, that stuff would melt to you like there's no tomorrow.

Personally, for what we're doing, it's great. If I had the $$, I'd get some. But for now, I'm just wearing cotton underneath. Sometimes one of my NESA shirts, sometime my work shirt, and in cold weather, a nice black turtleneck.

besides underarmor was designed to be worn under body armor, before it was thought of to be used by athletes.

I've always worn my "silkies" SOFFEâ„¢ PT shorts and a brown t-shirt.  If I were to wear a flight suit again, I'd switch my shirt to the 5.11 undershirt.  I think they're better than Underarmour due to the vented/mesh-like underars.  Much cooler.

Hahah...  Nice!    I do not wear said blue ribbon under my flight suit.   Just a pair of men's boxers and a black encampment t-shirt.   :D

I'm sorry, all you guys going commando are violating regulations and must be punished.  The regs clearly state that "All appropriate underwear will be worn." with the flight suit.

Unless commando IS the appropriate underwear. ;D

maybe a lacy thong or negligee under your flightsuit?  BWA HA HA HA HA

Sgt. Savage

Are barbed wire thongs and chainmail boustier's considered appropriate underwear? If not, someone needs to talk to my CC..... :-X

Is your CC male or female?  That might have a bearing on the content of the discussion.

In all seriousness (which puts a kink in my style) I wear under armor. Obviously, the grade I wear is suited to the climate. If it's real cold, I may wear Polypro.

MIKE

Polypro etc, kind of defeats the purpose of the Nomex.

I'm def against wearing polyester under a flightsuit due to its performance in extreme heat/fire. The stuff's been banned by USAF and other services for those who are more likely to be in a combustible environment. Fuels, firefighters, and aircrew are some of those specialties. Underarmour and others melt upon contact with extreme heat and they melt not just onto your skin, but into it. They are an extreme hazard.

I, personally wear all the same basic stuff as I do under BDUs. Black/Brown t-shirt (cotton), underwear, M-92F, Cerrated K-Bar (USAF survival knives aren't good at killing things), and an oxygen tank (for those "older" members I fly with sometimes).
GEORGE LURYE

Sgt. Savage

Problem I have is that I'm a Ground Pounder. When I enter an aircraft, I think more about what I can survive in when the Yahoo to my left parks this piece of crap on the side of a tree. Cotton is bad survival gear. I go synthetic. That nomex may not burn but it isn't fire proof either.

afgeo4

Rule of SERE #1. Preparing for survival on the ground is useless if you don't survive to make it to the ground safely.

The last time I saw Terry Fregley (Local L-39 pilot and CAP benefactor) alive, I was in Discount Auto Parts picking up some things...he remarked that my flightsuit didn't fit me like it used to....which was why I had retired it from use as a uniform.
