Hi everyone,

After spending about an hour in eServices and researching on searches (which is how I found this site), how do I get an @cap.gov e-mail address?

My Squadron Commander has it as @wawg.cap.gov (We're in Washington State), and if that's the format, no problem... I was just wondering how to get that e-mail address...

Thank you,

Jeff

What would the process be in other wings without this straightforward type link?

Here is the link I was given.

This if for @cap.gov domain only.

accounts will have to be created by Region or Wing Personnel."

There are likely 52 different processes and not all are handing them out.

California Wing does not use cap.gov addresses, we use cawgcap.org addresses. Seems to work okay so far, it's been up for a couple of years now.

However, if you had an olde cawg.cap.gov address, you could keep it, like I did. They did change the style of the front end from FirstinitialLastname to Firstname.LastName.

Dave you had that .gov address because you're on Wing Staff.

It wasn't just a wing staff thing.  Anyone could get them.  I used to have one as a Cadet, circa mid-2000s.

Nope. They were available to anyone who asked. Their use was recommended/encouraged back then. They are practically required in CAWG now because of the Microsoft Exchange email system.

Had an old cawg.cap.gov address back in the day prior to going on wing staff.   No longer have that account once they moved over to the new domain.  It wasn't used very much any way since I haven't really been active in the CAWG for a few years now.  It does seem that several wings have offered their members a more stable, professional looking email service.

Typed the response in the wrong quote area...blame it on time change or lack of coffee.    :D

Brad

If you want to request an actual "@cap.gov" email address, please see the instructions here: https://capnhq.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2699/related/1

If you're a Wing staff primary Director, then you can easily request one through eservices. If not, then you have to submit a request to NHQ via your Wing. Example: I had to request it through the latter process to get a Motorola Online account so the Wing could purchase Motorola software and hardware for some of our corporate radios.
