"The process is simple, after EAA receives confirmation of a CAP "O" flight from CAP
Headquarters, EAA will email the cadet a link they can use to join and access the free Flight
Plan benefits. In addition EAA will send a post card explaining the program; it's up to the cadet
if they wish to register and receive the benefits.

Remember, EAA must receive the cadet information directly from CAP HQ not from the cadet
or local units please do not contact the EAA office trying to register. The process happens
monthly and EAA will process the emails as soon as they are received from CAP HQ."

Is this still a "thing"?   It's the first I've heard of it and none of our cadets have ever mentioned it.

First I've heard of it but hope its still in place. So many things on the CAP website never seem to get deleted later. Maybe this 3 year old page is an exception.

I'm an O'Ride pilot who has flown maybe a dozen last year and sure would have liked to have known about this beforehand.

I'm also an EAA Young Eagle pilot and flew 23 kids last year. All but one I think was their first flight in a plane. Great program.

So when we do O-rides, how do we notify Hdqtrs that we want their names sent to EAA?

NHQ simply pulls the O-Ride report looking for the first flight (powered or glider) and then forwards that to EAA.   Now, as to whether they are still doing it, you'd have to ask them.

Yes, I just confirmed directly with NHQ, that this is still being done.

I just checked with a couple of our Cadets who took their first O-rides in 2016 and they never received anything from EAA.

Might want to reach out to NHQ then.
