THRAWN

I'm going on leave and will be online sporadically, but before I did, I just wanted to take a second to wish all of you and your families happy holidays. It doesn't matter where we come from, or what we do for a living, or what our core beliefs are, we all give of our time and selves for the betterment of CAP and our nation. I am humbled to be in the presence of true patriots.

Thawn....thanks much for the holiday wishes.  I echo your sentiment.

From our family to all of yours....as you celebrate and observe the various events through the coming days may you enjoy the good company of family and friends...may your times together be filled with joy, laughter, and love as well as times of reflection and renewal.   Don't forget to think a thought or say a prayer for those in our emergency services professions and military who will not be able to spend time with their loved ones due to work shifts and deployment.

Seems like it's dusty in here again this evening.

Have a warm and quiet holiday, however and wherever you mugs celebrate!

I know it is meant well. But wishing a "Happy Festivus" diminishes the other Holidays...

I know I will be pilloried for this post, however...

Unless you are a believer in one of the other faith traditions, it is no less real than they are. Given what the day is, I'll lay off the discourse on why Christmas was moved to December in the 4th Century and what pagan traditions still persist in the celebration of what was the Winter Solstice, Alban, Feast of Sol Invictus, Yule and the Saturnalia/Brumalia.

But since the day is past, I'll wish a Happy Holidays instead.

Crampus will come fer ya!

Let me fix that for you: Crampus Krampus will come fer ya!

I like the origin:

QuoteThe history of the Krampus figure has been theorized as stretching back to Pre-Christian Alpine traditions.

I had an urge, almost uncontrollable, to mention Krampus to a 2nd grade class when I was told to cover for a teacher.  >:D  But I had the common sense to ask her, and she deterred me from it.   :'(  The class had just finished their Christmas show, so it would have been on topic!   ::)

I also saw A Christmas Horror Story. Krampus, Zombie elves, and Santa Claus descend on a town named Bailey Dawns. William Shatner is a DJ... Slow developing, but if you like Krampus stories... Or zombies...

[Disclaimer, I do not believe on Krampus nor do I like him, but the idea of its existence I find it funny. Shame I cannot talk about him to some of the students I teach. They are the ones that Krampus would go after if he was real!]

No pillory here ... just a question.  Exactly how does wishing a "Happy Festivus" diminish anything?  If you celebrate Festivus, you already don't celebrate the other holidays.

Not following your logic, here, sir ...
