Looking for help .....

For you Aerial Photography folks, using the AMOD or similar unit to record a track log as backup in case the Solmeta/etc. doesn't send gps data to the camera. You can put a SD card in the G1000 (prior to startup) and take it out after shutdown. There is a wealth of data being recorded including the time, lat/long and altitude data we need for Robogeo.

Anyone have luck importing it yet? Its a csv file which Robogeo says is a valid file type.  You have to change a few settings. I can get it to import just one line. It does that perfectly with all data, but will not drop to the next line. I use Record Delimeter = {CR/LF} ... and have tried the others but best result is still one line of data only.

In case anyone is trying this, I'll save you some time counting the fields:

Field 2 is time
Field 5 is Lat
Field 6 is Long
Field 38 is gps alt

In settings make sure ... ImportCsvAsCapCsv preference setting is False

Second hint and problem to solve is that I had to open the csv file in a text editor and delete the first two header lines. Only takes a couple seconds, but would be great if not needed.

-----------------------------

As an aside and maybe will give others ideas on how to solve this, you can convert the G1000 files to Google Earth friendly kml files using a free Garmin app here:

https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=5059

Record a few touch and goes, import the converting file to kml and then 'play' it in Google Earth to see your flight. Fun.

But that kml file will not import into Robogeo.

I haven't done it recently but I recall you make the necessary conversion with GPSBabel.

You are my hero of the day. THANKS!

Input as Garmin G1000 Datalog Input Filter File and output to Garmin Training Center (.tcx)

Resulting file imports perfectly to Robogeo.  :)
