Title: Going active
Post by: RNOfficer on December 28, 2016, 11:01:12 PM
I got a letter from the USAFR asking me if I wanted to go on active duty as an HSO. I dunno what's up; I'm old for active duty.

My active-duty flight surgeon friend tells me USAF has done its best to run off qualified docs and RNs with goofy deployments, spotty access to continuing ed and other such stuff.

Maybe related...?

Might well be related. They must be pretty desperate to ask me.

I was asked the same thing back during the first gulf war...  told them I would only go if "they" called me up.  Unless things have changed, you do not get the same benefits when volunteering for active duty...  And, because of your age, your civilian career may be setback.

Active Duty forever or just for a 2 or 3 year tour?
