My Recommendation for Rigger Belts

I've tried a few rigger belts out, and I wanted to share with everyone the best deal that I've found so far.

I've been wearing one daily, often with heavy stuff like my sidearm (not during CAP activities, of course).

The one I've been most pleased with so far is the WOLF TACTICAL brand.

The Black WOLF rigger belt is great.

Please note that their brand of TAN belt is NOT a sand ABU-style belt...it's coyote tan, so not appropriate for the ABU.  But for those of us who wear the black belt with our polo shirts, CFU, etc., this is a great belt.  It holds up well and I have no complaints.

Lots of these belts go for $50 or more, but these are only $20.  Highly recommended.

I just received a sand rigger belt.  It doesn't need to handle the non-CAP duty equipment use of my black one, which is good because it's not as firm.

I got the SPEC-OPS Large.  I'd say it runs a little small and I don't think it'd reach the advertised 46" max.

It's the best SAND rigger belt I've owned/tested, though.  I gave away most of the others that I've tried.  I kept my DLA sand belt, but I don't like it.

This is it here (it's more expensive than the WOLF, but WOLF doesn't seem to offer sand):

I purchased one of these and they are very nicely rigid and well constructed. I wish I had known about these about 8 years ago when I was still a Lance Coolie in an infantry battalion. This will do great service; thanks for the recommendation James!

One of the best $20 I ever spent on a uniform item or supply.  I wasted too much money trialing others.  And I can't give them to cadets for their utility uniform, as temp belts, because they're all in ABUs now.  But I'm recommending it to all the SMs in the squadron who wear polo combos and/or blueberries.

If only I could get them in Sand for the cadets and do a bulk purchase and re-sell them at the at-cost discount...

Mostly those are the cheap options.  The last one looks Khaki.  Unless I saw it in person, I wouldn't buy it.

I found the Raine and Propper to be "okay" myself - but similar to the cheap issue belt.  I gave those 2 away.  I kept one issue (DLA) Sand and one issue (DLA) Black.

The one I have and use is the Spec.-Ops. Brand (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002AAWB3W/), which is good quality, but not as good as WOLF's double-thickness black one in the original post that Mike, other members and I use.

So I ended up buying this (the Black Wolf) belt, and I LOVE IT. It is a little stiff, but dang, it's good.

I should have bought some wholesale, to sell.  Doh.  My bad.  But I like sharing gear that I find, and I like saving people the time, cost, and energy.  I know from 20 years of experience what it's like to end up with gear that sucks and waste your money.

I especially try to save my unit members that headache by being very specific about options in presentations, and spreading the rules like "Cotton Kills."

Well, I for one am quite thankful I saw the post. I've had that belt for a little over a month now, and wear it all the time at work. It's a good one!

Yes, I found them excellent for duty gear.  Also very good for people who need to carry tools.  I have a second one for non-CAP use.

Usually rigger belts can be in the $40-60 range, so this WOLF brand is a steal for the construction quality.

I am less satisfied with the SPEC-OPS brand sand belt for the ABU.  It's good.  It's just not great.  Fairly thick, but gets creased fairly easily (the WOLF doesn't).  That said, I still recommend the SPEC-OPS for people who need an ABU rigger belt, over the issue, Vanguard, and others I've tried.  Unfortunately, the WOLF "tan" is a Coyote belt for the OCP uniform.  If we get OCP, I'll be using a WOLF.

Polo shirt with grey BDU pants from Tru-Spec (the Propper grey was too light to be a medium grey), and WOLF black rigger belt.  Blueberry suit with the WOLF.  ABU with the SPEC-OPS.

I don't know what brand the "tactical" grey pants Vanguard sells are, but the Tru-Spec BDU pants are excellent in grey.  I've been giving out $10 referral coupons to people left and right to get grey BDU pants from Tactical Gear (or blueberries, or flight suits because the Vanguard blue flight suit is AWFUL - horrible material and construction...by Rothco).  $50 (BOOO!) for grey tactical pants from Vanguard.  With the coupon I send out, it's like $19 for Tru-Spec grey BDU pants from TG.

Update: It appears Vanguard is selling Tru-Spec tactical pants (their 24/7 line of products).  Still overpriced with very limited sizes available from Vanguard.  Tactical Gear all the way.  Galls is good, but they use FEDEX "SmartPost" (which is basically like sending them by walking courier), and I don't think I can give people $10 coupons for Galls. Tactical Gear customer service rocks too.  UPS lost my patrol cap package, so Tactical Gear sent a replacement by overnight shipping for free - no waiting, no investigation with UPS, no UPS claims process, no charge at all - even for the overnight.

I received a couple of messages asking for referral coupons for Tactical Gear.  You can request them from me that way, but you have to include your e-mail address because that's where the referral link/coupon goes.

It gives you $10 off your first order at TacticalGear.com.  They have Tru-Spec Grey BDU pants that can be worn with the polo combination, blue BDUs from Propper/Tru-Spec, ABUs, fleece jackets, blue Gore-Tex parkas, and flight suits.  They also have boots and various equipment.

We also get a $10 credit for each person that uses one, so that helps us put uniforms on cadets.

Just send me a message with your e-mail address, and I'll send you the referral coupon through their website.

Tactical Gear is amazing, and they have really good sales. If there's something I need, but not in a hurry, I watch their email newsletter for a few weeks until a sale on that brand comes around, and I can usually beat Amazon's price, and during COVID when Amazon was taking two weeks to deliver, when I needed something in a hurry not only was Tactical Gear cheaper but got it to me in a couple of days.

One belt I would recommend is the Blackhawk CQB Riggers Belt.
I accidently bought mine in coyote tan but it's a great belt. It's about $40, it has a tensile strength of 7000lbs, and it's made in the USA.
I got mine off Midway and I'm pretty happy with it.

The desert belt with contrasting stitching looks killer, and is great quality. I am on 5 years of daily wear with my current one and carried some of their other gear downrange and cant preach enough about their quality.
