What resources do we have for grant writing?

See http://giving.walmart.com/walmart-foundation/community-grant-program for an example of what is available.

If there is one, I doubt they'd make themselves known in such a public space. They'd have every squadron commander from Albany to Albuquerque blowing up their inbox with requests to write grants for them.

It's like letting someone in the office know your decent with Excel. Enjoy your (my) personal hell of writing VBA code for everyone in the department.

You don't hear much about local CAP units getting outright grants.  Probably very difficult to write for since it would be sort of difficult to write them for anything other than general support of the unit or perhaps equipment acquisition, neither of which are probably going to look good if competing against folks who would be using the funds more for direct services or specific projects or programs.

Walmart's community grants were awarded to: Civil Air Patrol, Lost River Booster Club, Pregnancy Hope Center, Klamath County Youth Force, the YMCA and Shop with a Cop.

We got a 500.00 grant from B of A just last month.

+1 on this. WalMarts in my area have been supportive over the years.

The application process for the Walmart grant program has been greatly simplified this year. Get a copy of CAP's tax exemption letter, create an account for your squadron, and answer a few questions to determine your eligibility for the program. You can easily complete applications for every Walmart and Sam's Club in your area in a couple of hours.

The WalMart process requires a username and password. Who has access to that for Civil Air Patrol?

Start a new one for your Squadron. You are not applying as National.

The username is unique to the taxpayer ID on the IRS determination letter.
