CAP Police?

I found this online:

Did CAP actually have a police force at one point, or was that just a custom made novelty?

Being under the Office of Civilian Defense, I could imagine how CAP resources might have been used for air raid preparedness and blackout enforcement, but those duties should have fallen on the actual OCD Aux Police Corp and Air Raid Wardens.

So did CAP Police exist, and if they did, what was their purpose?

When I first joined CAP in 1967, a friend of my father said he was a CAP member in WW2.  He was in New Jersey and was given an unloaded bolt action rifle for beach patrol.  He described being so worried whenever he encountered someone at night he would work the bolt.....obviously he was no threat with an rifle demonstrated to be unloaded...

It'd probably be discussed in our leadership books if we had a police force, too.

Oooookay, then. Jeez guys!  ;D

Knowing that CAP was under OCD, which did have police force, it didn't seem that unreasonable that CAP might have had their own for a small period of time, pre 1946.

But wait, if we don't have MPs, how do you explain all those blue berets?

Speaking of lines, we got to do basic crowd control at the 1964 Dem Convention in Atlantic City. Make a line of folks in uniforms (Likely Shade 1s) and keep the crowd from advancing into the street. The crowds were actually pretty civilized back then, and played nicely.
