Well, I got the latest Volunteer in the mail and was somewhat disappointed to see the same old painting of a CAP plane swooping down on a sub that has been a staple of CAP publications for a very long time.

What do you guys think about an annual national contest with a $1,000 prize for the best original artwork depicting some aspect of CAP's history?  All the military services have art programs and while we can't pay a full-time artist, I bet a grand would be enough to get a few each year to try their hand at it.  Wouldn't it be nice to see some other artwork for a change?  Assuming we get full rights to the work, it could also be used for fundraising (Auction off numbered prints at Wing Conferences, for example).

Sidebar:  Does anyone know who was responsible for the sub painting?  When was it made?

I really like the CAP paintings by this guy, which were shown in the Volunteer this summer.
