Does anyone know if there are any celebrity members or former members of CAP? Even if just patron members.

I know it takes a good deal of time to invest into CAP to be a regular member, but I've read a few times about celebrities that are ham radio operators (Walter Cronkite, Joe Walsh, and some others) and it just got me wondering.

One of the surviving "Munchkins" from the Movie Wizard of Oz was a WW2 member.

I believe it was the guy who played the coroner.
"And Saint Attila raised the Holy Hand Grenade up on high saying, "Oh Lord, Bless us this Holy Hand Grenade, and with it smash our enemies to tiny bits. And the Lord did grin, and the people did feast upon the lambs, and stoats, and orangutans, and breakfast cereals, and lima bean-"

" Skip a bit, brother."

"And then the Lord spake, saying: "First, shalt thou take out the holy pin. Then shalt thou count to three. No more, no less. "Three" shall be the number of the counting, and the number of the counting shall be three. "Four" shalt thou not count, and neither count thou two, execpting that thou then goest on to three. Five is RIGHT OUT. Once the number three, being the third number be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade to-wards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuffit. Amen."

We here in Ks have these ties that bind with that movie.

There's a Wizard of Oz museum in Wamego, about 40 miles away. Every once in awhile they bring in the surviving WoOz characters, which happen to all be Munchkins. Meinhart is the youngest of the group, only being 17 or so at the time of the filming.

Last time he was here the State of Kansas actually certified him as a legal Coroner in the state so the Wicked Witch's death certificate would be legal. Sheesh.

Owns an airport? Or lives in a fly-in community? Lot of folks do that.

OK, so the community has a paved strip big enough for several touch-n-goes on one pass....LOL

Ok, so it's an "aviation community."  But the fact that he owns and operates a 707 should be sufficient...

Did we do a whole "John Travolta" thread last year here?  I think there were links to pics of his home and everything in it.
