Hey....I'm a "MIKE" (of sorts), so can I answer?

Part of signing up a new member should be an "ego waiver," which asserts that blatant acts of ego display will be met with severe beatings about the head and shoulders.

9 times out of 10, people's ego - whether on display, spoken, or combination of the two - is the stuff that reigns unchecked...and culturally separates us from external consideration as "useful."

CAP would be well-served by reinvesting in the mindset of "walking softly, but carrying a big stick."  'Till then, CAP walks like a purple elephant, with no real stick to speak of....and everybody knows it.

Did you do it for spite?
Did you think you had to, honey?

Last night, our squadron had it's weekly meeting...yet, due mostly to it being Spring Break in the school systems, there were only three senior members and one cadet present.  However, our AE guy brought his super fantastic, 10" Discovery telescope on swivel stand.  We saw Saturn and it's rings...the Orion Nebula...the International Space Station as it passed over, and numerous other celestial cool sigts.  My question is this...how can we help the American Citizenry recapture even a part of it's love for space exploration?
