Title: Duty Position "Nuts and Bolts"
Post by: Snake Doctor on January 23, 2008, 02:10:14 PM
I'm starting a project of creating presentations on the various duty postions.  I'll be making it specific to my Wing as required.  Has anyone already done this?  If so, are they willing to share?

Are you trying to brief on what each position does or sell people on serving in a particular duty?

No I have not done this, but I would be interested in seeing what your produce. Please share when your done. If you share while your working on it [even better] you can get feedback, tips, comments, editing etc....

Good luck

After having a discussion with my admin officer about the hows, whys and "nuts and bolts" of just doing "file cutoffs and disposition" I agree that we need some serious "here, this is what this term means, and this is how you would do it.."

Powerpoint, video (you tube?) whatever...

I know that NHQ distributes a "DCP SmartBook" which is a short guide designed for new Directors of Cadet Programs at the wing level.  It summarizes the job description, describes the important programs, has a list of suspenses for various recurring things, and lists the references necessary to be successful in the job.  It even has a little philosophy on the CP-related world.

I thought it was particularly well-written.   8)

PM me if you'd like a copy of the current (2007) edition.

It will take a while to get all of this done.  :)

I would be happy to share as I get going on this.  I'm looking for a "how to presentation" but it could also serve as a, "this is what you'll do if you choose this position".

So like a short video officer basic course? That's a good idea, a really good idea the more I think about it. Draw from highly experienced specialist around the country, yada yada. Hour or two online video w/ some PDFs. I mean I guess what the guy is talking about is more of an overview, a la SLS, but yeah I'm liking this idea of yours.

The old Squadron Leadership School was all about just this very topic.  Haven't seen the new one in action, but a set of old SLS slides should set you up.

Could any one provide the old SLS slides?
