We say goodbye to Everett L. "Mac" McCallum with sadness and love. He will be sorely missed; his humor and witticisms endeared him to friends and family.

Mac graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs, IA, in 1949. He had 39 years of military service with active service in the U. S. Air Force and reserve time in the U. S. Army.

Starting as a photographer for the Council Bluffs Nonpareil, Mac worked for Walter Craig's Movie Business, and in 1958 he started his own business, Kriss and McCallum Photography, with partner Bob Kriss. Mac was an early-day Google Maps. He flew small planes from Piper Cubs to Cessna 172s while photographing neighborhoods for companies like Burger King, who then counted rooftops to select new restaurant sites. He was especially noted for his aerial photographs documenting the construction progress of many projects, such as the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Plant and the Millard area developments for the Seldin Company and other builders.

Mac was a past President of the Optimist International, Nebraska Chapter. He started Professional Photographers of Nebraska and the Nebraska Association of Remodeling Industry of Omaha (NARI). He was in Leadership Omaha Class 6, a Blue Lodge Mason and a 50-year member of the Shrine.

Happiest when playing tennis, Mac met his second wife, Cella Quinn, at Hanscom Tennis Courts. They were married for 40 years. He was predeceased by Smiley, a Bernese Mountain Dog, and leaves behind Duke, a big orange Maine Coon tomcat.

Mac was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Marjorie (Neer) McCallum; brothers, Robert (Rose) and Ernest (Maxine) McCallum Jr.; and his first wife, Mary (Fries) McCallum.

He is survived by his children, Michael and Shirley (Kennett) McCallum, Marc McCallum, Teresa (Mark) Jefferson, Patricia (Dan) Eppert, and Kathy (Randy) Woods; sister-in-law, Rose McCallum; niece, Michele (Dan) Head; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and best friends, Don Eggers and Neil O'Donnell.
