Stan Rorex fought the good fight. He passed on June 2nd at the age of 77 years old.

He refused to give up and remained at home in the place he loved until the end.

Stan was born in Mecca, California in 1943 to Guff and Helen Rorex. His dad was a deputy sheriff and his mom was a teacher.

Stan graduated from high school and Junior College. He was trained in fire science, bomb disposal and criminal justice.

He began his career of public service as a fireman in Pomona, California. After moving to Winnemucca over 4 decades ago, he spent the next 31 years in law enforcement. Serving in the Police Department, Sheriff's Office and State Parole and Probation.

After his retirement, he continued his service to the community through Search and Rescue, Red Cross, Civil Air Patrol, Ministerial Association, the Drug Court Program and the Northern Nevada Dive Rescue Team.

 As busy as he was there always seemed to be time to tell stories about the good old days and his amazing life experiences.

He played a major role in the capture of Claude Dallas and was the lead investigator on the "Bristlewolf" triple homicide at Pinto Hot Springs.

Stan adored his family. His wife of 54 years, Susan, and his four sons: Andy (Courtney), Joe (Zwaantje), Jake (Heather), and Nick.

A special joy was his grandchildren: Brian, Savannah, Caden, Austen, Morgan, and Bailey. He is also survived by his brother, Doug and sister, Janet.

 Stan enjoyed working on his military vehicles. However, he took time out for hiking, camping, mining, and SCUBA diving among other hobbies.
