I'll expect full honors, side boys, piping aboard, the proper guns in salute, all that stuff.   ;D

RogueLeader

No kidding.  If I get,  I let everyone know.

I placed in a request for a commission as an Admiral in the State of Nebraska Navy a couple of weeks ago, I haven't heard anything back yet.

RogueLeader

What did you do for glorious Nebraska.

(Boy, I need a bosun's whistle here!)

Well, I now know that one can indeed nominate oneself to be an Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska!  (And you don't have to live in Nebraska for it to happen, either!)

Want proof?  Take a look.  (Wonder what uniforms we get to wear?  Hehehehehe)

I'll expect full honors, side boys, piping aboard, the proper guns in salute, all that stuff.   ;D

Admiral Jack

You are hereby demoted to Ordinary Seaman!

Boatswains do NOT carry/use whistles. That particular item is properly called a pipe.  :o

Carry on.  :)

Waitaminnit ... only the Governor of Nebraska can demote me to Ordinary Seaman ... or any other kind of seaman!!!   ;D  But you are correct, it should have read "bosun's pipe" and I stand corrected.  (I also know it's boatswain, not bosun, but hey -- if it's good enough for Hornblower it's good enough for me.)

What the heck ... I was in the Air Force, fer cryin' out loud.

Carry on.

Mine took about three weeks.  Let us know when you get it and we'll pipe you aboard as well.

They'll have to start an air wing for all the CAP Talkers joining.

So that you don't do the wrong thing while aboard, here are the boatswain's calls in MP3 audio.

You know alabama & mississippi both have the same thing & Ky has Col.s (you have to actually do something for that). You can go thru the list collecting if you like.

OK, I'll bite.  How do I become a Mississippi Admiral?  Got a Link?

I would totally spring to become a New York Admiral, but apparently New York actually has a real naval militia - one of the few states that does.  Guess I'll have to settle for putting myself in for it in Nebraska.   ;D

I just find it real funny that Nebraska, a land locked state, has a Navy.  They must be patrolling the Missouri River. ;D

Now Mississippi and Alabama I can see.  Although I can also picture a bunch of good ol' boys riding in their bass boats with their huntin' rifles. :D

They do that now, even without having a "Navy"...they call it "gettin' dinner".  :P

You may be interested to know that my Admiral's appointment certificate is in a nice frame next to my Gill Robb Wilson award and my Meritorious Service certificate and just the other side of my Specialist's Degree from Columbus State University.

Or, you may not be interested in knowing that.   ;)

Now, if anyone knows any Kentucky Colonels out there who might sponsor me for such an appointment ... I may take Dennis' suggestion and collect all I can!
