The North Carolina Department of Transportation joked about the snafu on social media.
"Y'all leave Ohio alone. They wouldn't know. They weren't there," the NCDOT said, including the hashtag #FirstInFlight (https://twitter.com/hashtag/FirstInFlight?src=hashtag_click), referencing the fact that the Wright Brothers built their plane in Ohio but took their first flight in Kitty Hawk, N.C.
