I am looking to build a website and would like some recommendations for software for this purpose. I have an older version of Web Easy 7 but would like a more modern type  program. I would really appreciate any suggestions. I would like to work on the CAPHF website and the MOVA website when time permits.

What sort of experience do you have and what sort of needs do you have?

You should plan to use a CMS, in my opinion - like WordPress (I have a project going here: http://captalk.net/index.php?topic=13484.msg243872#msg243872 ).  It certainly can be used for national things as well.

I'd be willing to build you a site. PM me if you want to take me up on it.

I recommend weebly, dreamweaver, and wordpress.
Weebly is for total beginners.
Dreamweaver you need to know something.
Depends on wordpress...

Weebly is for beginners, but if you know something about HTML, and CSS, you can do whatever you want to the site.

I made the website for my Squadron:

www.cap207.com

As you can see, it is flashy, and sleek. All done with weebly.

Weebly does limit how many pages you can have..

The only real problem with WordPress anymore is the memory limits on your typical shared hosting and when you put a metric crapton of plugins into the thing.

Your best bet is to use a template-based service and use the time you save on design adding content.

I am pretty good with computers themselves but I do not know HTML or anything of that sort. The template based seems like a good idea. I appreciate all suggestions.

My first suggestion would be either Blogger or Sites.  Either should be able to get what you need done.

Nah, nano vs. vi is a minor skirmish.  Now vi vs. emacs, now there's armageddon.
