Post by: abdsp51 on March 30, 2012, 01:51:49 AM
How long should it take to receive your ID? It's been a month now for me.

They usually come in a couple weeks, depending on holidays, etc.

New ID cards are sent to an outside vendor in batches. About every two weeks or so.

Send out to a vendor? They are paying for these things?
Gah.

Bring back the card printer they had.

Let's see, I rejoined at the end of February, uploaded a photo about a week later, and received my ID card in the mail a week and a half after that.

It should take ~1-3 weeks after your photo has been uploaded and approved or after you select to have one ordered.

Check with your unit and see if your membership app package has actually been mailed. Even money somebody "forgot" to do it...

+1

I see you got it because I was going to mention the other possibility is National may have turned down your application. It has happened before and will happen again.

I renewed in January, and didn't get my new card until literally a week before my membership expired in March.

I renewed on 25MAR12, I've had my ID card for two weeks now.  Maybe I'm just lucky.  My members get their blues, IDs, uniform parts, membership applications processed, promotions, levels processed, etc.

The poster you just responded to is in neither place, and that locational comparison isn't germane to the discussion.

Never said they lived there.

Different places, different delivery speeds

Unfounded assumption. Mail delivery is unpredictable at best.

True but only to the tune of days, not months. If there is a wide disparity in time that's NHQ's doing not USPS.

Sorry I misspoke.  When I first joined CAP I hadn't gotten my ID card or my binder within the first 6 mos. So we called and finally got it taken care of and then I got it w/in 3 or so weeks.

. . . is this on topic or meant to be "snarky" . . . .????  Because as true as it might be . . . it doesn't answer anyone's question.

How about fixing the quotes, so we can make better sense of what you said.

[edit]
OK, think I have it.

There is no easy answer. There are too many uncontrollable variables to be able to narrow the problem down to one specific area.
