Hello all.  I'm a former cadet who completed the Billy Mitchell Award.  Fast forward to age 40, I am now a new senior member.  Regulations (CAPR-35-5, 3.7) seem to imply that Billy Mitchell Award recipients are eligible for appointment to 2LT.  The wording isn't clear as it states, "upon reaching the age of 21" which would be relevant to cadets transferring directly to the senior member program, but it doesn't specify if it still applies to former cadets returning to the program after a time lapse.  Does anyone know of a regulation that is more specific to this question?

Eclipse

35-5 is the reg.

At 40 you "reached 21".

You would be eligible for immediate promotion to 2d Lt upon completion of Level 1, instead of
having to wait the normal 6 months.

I understand.  What's the procedure? CAPF-2?  Command staff at my squadron seems confused about 35-5 as they think it may just apply to cadets transfering directly to the senior program.

Eclipse

Yes, F2 as a "Special Appointment" with "Former cadet - Mitchell Award" or similar in the notes area.

Once approved by the CC, send it to:   LMMeforms@capnhq.gov
