Title: Flag Size
Post by: Tubacap on February 03, 2008, 10:17:22 PM
So we are in the process of starting an honor guard at our squadron.  What is the appropriate size U.S. flag to purchase?  Also, if there is a place to get the squadron flag for under $340 PLEASE PM me!

Thanks!

National flag size for a color guard is 3x5 ft. Currently only Vanguard has the CAP flag. I bought one on eBay for $60 and had the squadron name removed and found the red letters to add the new squadron name. Total cost $70. An alternate to a squadron flag for a color guard is a 3x5 state flag, usually about $35 with the fringe.

It would depend on what ceremonies you intend on doing, if just the standard Colors element then a flag the same size as your unit flag will work (approx 3x5 if I recall), if you anticipate doing details with with the Funeral element then I would have your cadets practice with a funeral flag (approx 5x9.5, don't have the info infront of me right now).
