George Nick Dragonir, 85 of Follansbee, WV died peacefully on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Golden Oaks Personal Care Facility.
George was born on February 20, 1936, in Martins Ferry, OH a son to the late Nick and Carolyn (Bauman) Dragonir. George is also preceded in death by his beloved wife Mildred (Crinkey) Dragonir on November 19, 2021, and a sister, Vera Hanson.
George graduated from Follansbee High School Class of 1954, he earned his bachelor's degree from West Liberty State College in 1959 and last earned his MBA from Indiana University in 1990. George proudly served his country in the United States Navy Reserve. He was a member of the Follansbee United Methodist Church, The Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad, American Legion Post 45 where he was a past commander, Follansbee Lions Club, Garibaldi Lodge, and Chamber of Commerce where he was citizen of the year in 2007. He was also a member of the Wheeling Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol with a Rank of Major where he earned Finance officer of the year in 2009. George worked for Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel where he was a Purchasing Officer, Rochester & Pittsburgh Coal Co., and last Teberebie Gold Fields Limited where he was also a purchasing manager among other positions.
George is survived by two children, Dr. Lorraine Dragonir and husband Gerald Bioux of Ellicot City, MD, George B. Dragonir and wife Georgia Dragonir of Sugarland, TX; three grandchildren, Alexandra, Drake, and Peyton Dragonir; one brother, James L. Dragonir and wife Anita Dragonir of FL; one sister, Patricia Doty of Follansbee, WV; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
