Here's this morning's article to keep the discussion going.

Best advice I saw in it, if it looks like it was recently a live animal or plant, eat it. If it is in a box and can survive on a shelf for weeks, avoid it.

Sean, the one that winterg sent out? No need to join, you can x out and read the article. If you talking about the Challenge site, I can walk you through it.

Not sure what forum you are trying to join.  All you need to do is register on Presidentschallenge.org and then go to your profile and join the CT Challenge Group.  Let me know if you still need help.

I joined the group. I wish it automatically read my workouts from Strava. Not sure I'm going to remember to manually enter things every day I run. :-\

Today's activity - 8 miles @ 8:56 pace.

It's OK if you forget to log a day.  You can go back and add workouts up to 8 weeks previous I believe.  I usually sit down and update that weeks activity from my Fitbit on the weekend.

And here I am...don't remember the last mile I ran.

(That's a lie....August 2008, somewhere in the low 8 minute mark, and I almost died).

That said, since starting to work out, and doing the bike, treadmill, elliptical, and a random half mile in jeans, combat boots and hot weather, I think I could do a mile...just not an 8 minute mile. Working on it!

I'm not a hardcore runner by any means1. My goal is to break 1,000 miles this year, and I'm on track to do that. 473 miles complete as of today. I shoot for 20-25 a week.

1 It's all about your reference group. I'm in a running club, so I socialize with people who are much more serious runners than I am. OTOH, compared to a non-runner, 8 miles might seem unachievable.

winterg

I'd be happy to run the 1.5 mile again without my knees falling off!

I'll be happy if I can run 1/4 of a mile without passing out

I've already been doing the President's Challenge for a while now on my own. Would you be opposed to a Patron Member joining your group?

I enjoy flying over a city hosting a 5K Run ... and taking photos of the runners below. Pulling the plane in and out of the hangar is enough exercise for me. LOL

Anyone else notice that the President's Challenge can now import data directly from your fitness tracker?  Looks like FitBit, Garmin, and Misfit are supported.  It was super easy to do my logging for the week!

How is everyone making out? I'm doing between 1-3 hours of activity daily. Finishing the war college was the best thing that could happen to my waist. Bridey has us on a 28 day low cal meal plan. The best thing is, it is all good and filling food. I haven't been hungry or had the desire to snack on pogey bait sine we started it.

I had a good week last week. Not as good as it could be. I am averaging only about 35-40 minutes of activity according to my fitbit.  Let's see if I can do better this week.

I managed to get 125,225 steps last week (Sunday thru Saturday) which equates to 57.54 miles.

An interesting article about the history of the Presidential Physical Fitness Program and the fact that obesity is skyrocketing in America despite it.  This has inspired me to work even harder.
