Richard "Dick" K. Neuwirth, age 82 of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.

He was born on March 24, 1942 to the late Charles and Mildred (Kothe) Neuwirth in Fairview Park, Ohio. Dick proudly earned his Masters degree in Education at Indiana University. On August 3, 1968 he married Veronica Mick, who survives.

Dick is an active and dedicated member of Poplar Ridge Church of the Brethren, and is a Pastor at Swan Creek Church of the Brethren. He was a teacher and coach for over 40 years at multiple schools, coaching football and track. Dick was very involved with the Planetarium at Tinora School, and the Ohio Wing Civil Air Patrol. Greg Putnam, Lt. Col., CAP (Retired)

Stonewall

Although I've only been a member of Ohio Wing since 2018, I first met Dick and Veronica in 2003 at Grissom ARB, IN where he was course director for Region Staff College. Dick was a steadfast and passionate mentor in many facets of Civil Air Patrol, from professional development to operations. He joined CAP in 1971, held master ratings in Aerospace Education and Emergency Services, and earned the Gill Robb Wilson Award in 1992 (#1447).
