Senior Officer Exam

Hello, I can not recall when a member orders the Senior Officer Exam (ECI-13), was there a time limit of when it had to be completed? I have looked on the National Page and the AFIDAL Page and I cant find it.  I thought it used to be like six months or something but I wasn't sure.

You have a total of, I believe, 16 months (1 year plus 4 month extension request) to complete the exam from the date your enroll in the class.

I was told that as soon as I ordered the course, I should have ordered the exam. Hearing that you only have 45 days, I'm glad I didn't! Which brings me to wonder why you can't do that, and get the same amount of time. But I guess it makes sense.

It took nearly that long just for the test to get from AFIADL to me via wing. I've never heard of the 45 day rule before.

When I took the course you had 1 year from the date they shipped until you were supposed to be done with it. You can request a 6 month extension through Air University. You have to have valid reason for this. I do know of an individual who was turned down for the extension becuase they said they had lost the book during a move and had just found it.

The only mention I've seen of the 45 day rule is you keep the exam for 45 days after the person has taken it incase results have not been sent to the student.  After the 45 days the test is supposed to be destroyed, because the student is instructed to circle their answers on the test booklet in addition to bubbling in the answers on the answer sheet.

You have exactly 12 months from the day that they mailed to you the confirmation card that you have been registered in the course.  This includes taking the test.

That is still good advice - there are realities to the whole process of it being sent, and then how long it takes to actually get to your unit's TCO, and then further to schedule the test session.

What I have seen is people spend time preparing, order the test when they are "ready" and then
by the time they actually get in the room with the bubble sheet, they have forgotten everything.

Ordering the test when you get your booklet imposes real date pressure on everyone involved, and insures it'll be sitting in your unit's secure storage when you are ready to take it.

I cant seem to find it.  Doesnt the Marine NCO Non Resident Course take the place of the ECI-13?  I know, some of you are rolling your eyes, but its OK....
