You all and your silly titles.

Surely, SURELY, there is something more important to do with the time?

Of course there is.

And don't call me Shirley.

It wasn't what I had in mind, but it was only a few spare minutes.

Nah, I've never asked for titles that I can get once I get a million posts, just so I can post that much to get the title.

Posting is for actual commentary, not to increase a little number. I've never really seen the point of a title outside that regarding position, but YMMV...

The real reason that I was asking is because of the number of people, and the number of people that have reached 500 posts.  I thought it might be an "incentive"- for the lack of a better word to my mind.

My point in my first comment is that you don't really want an incentive to have 500 posts. That's silly. Then you'll end up with "word association-like" threads, and people posting nonsense just to increase a post count.

The number of posts does not tell anything about the quality of the posts or the poster. A high post count just means that:

A) The person has been on the forums for a long time.
B) The person spent a week posting like a madman.
C) The person posted low quality posts like, "Yeah, what he said" or "No, that's wrong" just to get to the number.

Any way you look at it, the title doesn't really mean that much. I was just mentioning that if posters want respect, than post like someone who knows what he or she is talking about. Ensure that the "incentive" doesn't reward dumb posts, but rather quality posts that actually benefit the community.

I think you're worried about the wrong thing here.  First, I don't think there are boat loads of people on here trying to figure out how to increase their post count.  However, if there are, you can do a few things about it.  Don't participate in their frivolous threads.  Ignore it, period.  Or realize that having some sort of forum title isn't an incentive in the least, but rather anecdotal means to label someone in a friendly manner as someone with time on their hands to post on CAP Talk.  Is it really that big of a deal?  No.
