Okay, assembling some cadet insignia on epaulets ..  seriously, they expect you to get those frogs back on there, in that small working space .. and then they have this big silver blob of reinforcement sewing where the insignia should go .. except two pips and two diamonds don't cover it. So it looks, different.

Does anyone actually ever look at this stuff? ;)

The blob of silver stuff is easily removed with a seam ripper or, if you have the skills, a single edge razor blade.
And it's other cadet officers who look at this stuff and will give your cadet a huge load of crap about it. :o

Just bend the pins over. It might make the insignia unusable for passing on to another cadet, but it neatens up the appearance.

I never had a problem getting the backings on for the miniature insignia.  Also, I cannot seem to recall the silver alignment dot causing any heartache for C/1st Lt and C/Lt Col.

I used a pair of needle nose pliers to put the frogs on.  And yeah, never had an issue with any of the insignia.
