The last time I went through my Army field gear (just after retirement), I discovered a couple of items that required a late night trip to the "amnesty box" at Camp Roberts.
Whoops.
Remember kids, always check your gear on a routine basis for servicability.

BTDT. But with pryo
(I couldn't use with CAP).
I'm what's called a "gear queer". I had the saying
gear adrift is a gift. Lots of the stuff I have that I didn't purchase, I can honestly say I have no idea where it came from. Like the K-pots. My wife wears a small, but I don't. Back when we met at an ARNG armory, they decomissioned one unit and brought in another. They were basically throwing gear at us. I'm sure there should have been some paperwork, but that's their problem. :)
I hear Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor in the back ground.
Besides you have it all organized, you can never have too much.
Kirt your a mans man

I think my wife thinks I'm too organized. In fact, I know my anal-retentiveness drives her crazy.
Too...much...gear?
I don't think men are allowed to string those three words together in a sentence or acknowledge that
they can be by a woman.
Ask here if she has too much jewelry. ;D
Seriously, though. It might make a funny picture to see you wearing it all at once!
I will take the flex cuffs, the poncho, 2 sandbags and a Kevlar. There is a person that I need to "disappear". OR Send everything to me and I will "McGyver" you an awesome cadet discipline machine >:D
I'll take everything in the Misc. Container......

Don't tell my wife that, she'll FedEx it to you tomorrow. :'(
Along those same lines, I was starting to get my paperwork in order to work on my taxes last night. When I was going through various categories and got to "Charitable Donations", my wife said, "What?!? You spent how much on CAP?" My response - Honey, it's a write off.
I am not sure that was the best response.
^ Hey....use it! Use the milage, the food expenses, the uniform purchases. USE EVERYTHING. However, my Accountant said that this year there are stricter guidelines for stuff like this from the IRS. If you don't have receipts you can't claim it, no exceptions (unlike previous years, where the IRS gave us the option to claim up to $600.00 without receipts).

Wanna come to my place and get retentive on my stuff?

I will so be at your next rummage sale.

Amnesty box being a drop off point for ammo taken off base? Classified you left in your briefcase? What?

"Stuff" you're not supposed to have (generally ammo and / or brass, but often more serious "contraband" items, particularly if its the amnesty box at the reception station at Basic Training).
I still have several grenade pins. Oh well.
"please no pyro"
CAP Talk is so educational. I learned things today. For example, I didn't know Nin had a personal life.

It is a law of life that there is no such thing as two much gear...
Just as long as you have a place to stick it all...
PS: Tell you wife that it is "life saving equipment"
You just need to buy an old U-Haul style trailer to carry it all around in, then it is all ready to go at once.

I was gonna say Large Marge, but her name isn't Marge either... :-*
My wife is niether large or big. She is 5' 2" and wears small short BDUs. I really don't know how much she weighs and I'm sure she would kill me if I knew and put it on here.
Seems like its pretty well organized.
Check out BOB-Oracle.com. This guy is the king of snivel gear.
I'm pretty sure "too much gear" qualifies as an oxymoron or something.

Give me gear over a hunk of shiny coal any day!! Alice packs, canteen covers, MREs... <sigh>
Much to my wife's chagrin, I'm marching double-time toward the day when I can make the same "too much gear" statement. ;D I'm still pretty new, so it'll take me a few more months.
As long as your not obsessed with buying gear and its not ruining your marriage or job, I think your good.
So... why aren't you E-Bay'ing all this to make some money to buy brand new gear?
I've given away or sold all the gear I don't want/need. Everything I kept is stuff that you can't buy anymore, stuff I need, stuff I just can't let go of, or stuff that I need to hold on to incase the government comes knocking and want it back. Just because they didn't ask for it back doesn't mean they won't want it back one day.
QuoteJust because they didn't ask for it back doesn't mean they won't want it back one day.
I had a bunch of GI issue type stuff with me one day....My cav unit was deactivating and I brought out my bag of "extra" items just in case I was missing something I wouldnt actually have to pay for it. Some of it was never asked for gear some was CAP acquired etc etc
bad idea....
The supply NCO said if I cant produce a reciept it must be issue stuff I never bothered to return...and into her bag it went....
Lesson leaned never have anyhting but whats on the paper and never get rid of anything because "...nobody asked for it back"

Yeah, luckily I'm pretty good with taking what I dish out. And since my smokin' hot wife can out PT most men, especially in CAP, even at 8 months pregnant, I'm not worried about it.
Ah, you missed it....not too BIG of a wife...but having ANY wife at all to tell you that you have too much gear.....

Cadet Williams- are you leaving the program? Don't forget that if you got the blues as part of the FCU program, you need to give them to the unit. Also, if you checked any of those items out from the unit, they should be returned. What comes around goes around.
No just listing all the gear I have

That's not enough! haha. If I were to list all mine it would take the whole 4th page.
My problem is I can't bring myself to stop buying things. You'd think that once I had everything that was basically necessary for any activity I would be done. Nope, it's always time to upgrade or get new toys to play with. Oh well, the Mrs. is OK with it as long as it is limited to one closet.

Same here. I like to buy new toys even though I like the ones I have now.
Does she also want you to get rid of some of it? If yes they I am sure with encampment coming up we could use it
