Post by: CadetProgramGuy on August 20, 2007, 01:58:46 AM
Got this from a friend.  Hope you all can use it like I did.

1st time 65%
2nd time 68%
After using study guide.......95% (priceless)

QuoteCAP had coastal bases in three states:  New Jersey, Florida, and Maryland
Someone needs to do a just a little bit more historical research.

Bad thing is that all if the notes came out of the Material.

You don't need no study guide.  Read the texts, do the UREs and get a 95 on the first try.  :)

I passed on my first try, but I certainly wouldn't blame anyone for not getting it since this course, without a doubt, has the most horribly written textbooks I've ever read, and I've read some snoozers.  Can't blame a student for not understanding it.

I had forgotten all about the 8th grade US history lesson in there.  Not really sure what relevance it has to the course.

Just a little note......based on USAF standards....study guides of this nature MAY...I SAY AGAIN....MAY constitute a test compromise.

Read the text....do the UREs....and take your EOC.  No need for a study guide.

And if you're at least vaguely familiar with the course material, be it former military or a cadet, you can probably even take the test cold and pass it. All that's needed to pass the exam is a 65.

Seems like I spent more time making the corrections to the printed material than I did studying for the test.  No study guide is necessary.  Read, do the questions, correct you answers, study your answers, pass the test.  It really is fairly simple.

The study guide was very necessary for me since I don't like reading the Boring stuff.

Problem with correcting what the books say is that then you would need to correct the test mistakes as well.

Anywho, I felt that If I needed this guide someone else will too.

I'm ready to request my exam, but I'm not getting anywhere with it.  When you go here:  http://www.maxwell.af.mil/au/afiadl/ it requires downloading PureEdge which is supposed to be here:  http://www.e-publishing.af.mil/contentmgmt/download65.asp but it's not.

Any suggestions?

I sent a letter to my wing members in reference to applying for the AFIADL-13 test and I'm sharing it with members of this forum.  I hope you will find this useful.

That's what I needed.  AFIADL needs to fix their broken links.

Thanks!

The e-publishing site was updated in the last few days (a week ago at most I think), so that could be why the AFIADL page hasn't been updated.

Ehh, maybe it's just me getting easily frustrated/confused by all of the different sites and links to go through for all of our different things.

Theoretically, you should have the TCO, or Wing TCO order the tests.  While it is not Required nationally to do so, its a good idea.  They usually know  ;) the proper forms and programs to do so.  It is also advisable to let the TCO know what you are doing so he/she isn't surprised when a test shows up unexpectedly shows up.  You DO want to take the test, right?

Yep, the test is what I need.  I wasn't aware of the whole process to get it done.

I don't agree with that at all; can you imagine the nightmare if a wing TCO for a wing like CA or TX had to go through all that?  Just order the test on your own; it gets logged and distributed to the unit. It's just not that difficult.

The way I worked the TCO slot was like this(I was also the PDO):

Me: I notice that you are in this ST, and it requires the completion of this course.  Would you like me to ernoll you in it?
SM: Sure.
Me:  Ok. I need your Address, phone number, Social Security Number.  Don't wory, I will keep your ssn secure.
SM: I don't know my ssn. . .
Me: That's ok, just bring it when you can. Do NOT email it to me.  I'll get you signed up when I have it.
SM: Ok, . . . . . .

Later:

SM: Hey Lt Seng?
Me: Yes.
SM: I'm ready to take the test.
Me:  Ok, I'll get it ordered this week.
SM:  Great, thanks.

Even Later:
CC:  Here you go Lt.  <hands envelope>
Me: Thank you Sir. <opens envelope>  Oh, for SM Jones. <Calls SM Jones over>
SM: Yes?
Me: Your test arrived. Just let me know when you want to take it.
SM: Thank you.

Depends on the wing, and how the shred codes are set up.  in IAWG, all tests had to go to the WG, then redistributed from there to the Squadron.  I know many can, and I wouldn't refuse to let someone fill out the enrollment forms themselves, but I do not like the idea of tests showing up at a squadron w/o the TCO not knowing about it.

I'll just check with our TCO then and run it by her.  That'll solve the issue; I just assumed that we order it on our own.

Since I just did this a couple of months ago, I can tell you how it worked in California Wing.   You order the test online.   The test is sent to the Wing, who then forwards it to the Unit Commander.   The Unit Commander gives it to the Squadron TCO who gives the test.   The Squadron TCO then sends the test back to AFIADL.  Results come in the mail in about 10 days.
