5317 Locked Up in SCAN Mode

 Just tried to fire up a recently issued 5317.  It goes into SCAN mode at power up and will not take any inputs?

Maybe the font is broken?

It actually sounds like the scan button is stuck.

No inputs at all? Not even zone or channel changes?

Have you tried putting it in the test mode to see if that works? Press and hold the leftmost button above the display during the interval between the initial display and the completion of the self-test, such as when the "SELF TEST" message is being displayed. If it works you should see a bunch of information about the radio start showing up on the display. If that works, turn it off and back on again to get it into normal operation.
