Hey, I just received my first ham call sign today, and was curious if there are any other amateur operators out there in CAP-land?

Nice vanity, nin.  :)

Well, I had the opportunity to trade my old (1978-issue) 2x3 for a 1x3 vanity. You'd do it too! :)

"opportunity"? You can't just do it if you pay or something?

Welcome to the club! (No pun intended.)

73 de KJ4VKC.....still trying to think of a vanity, but then I'd have to change my license plate and my instructor and VE stuff lol.

You can, but the call has to be available and you have to pay the filing fee to request it. If it was previously used and the owner died for example, then there's some extra hoops you have to jump through to get it.

Congratulations on your new license.

I once had the idea to try to setup a CAP channel on Echolink. So we could all get in touch with each other, exchange ideas and experiences whatever our location is.

Hope to talk to you soon on the air.
