Did I miss a change here, or am I mixing my terminology?

I see new links on the CAP website for joining as a Friend of CAP. Did we do away with the Patron Member title?

Mixing terminology.

Friends of CAP are donors, not members. They do not need to meet membership requirements.
Patron members must meet membership requirements and are assigned to a unit.

Yep pretty much. HQ will take your money and call you a Friend but they won't issue a CAPID anymore and track you doing "nothing".

I was pretty much forced to join a local unit, pay again, if I wanted to keep a CAPID and be a SMOG. Now the local unit can track me doing "nothing".

It's called HQ "delegating" the task.  ;)

I guess Friends of CAP did sort of replace the National Patron status. But the vast majority of patron members were never National Patrons and were assigned to units. That has not changed.
