Title: Where is the current Mission Base Reference Text?
Post by: Holding Pattern on February 10, 2018, 12:01:26 AM
P-2006 makes reference to this document. Searching google gives me one reference of a draft PDF. Where is the official source?

Here's a link to the home page for ES Training (https://www.gocivilairpatrol.com/programs/emergency-services/education-and-training/).

In draft since 2003? That must be a record!

Good news everyone! I opened a ticket for the issue and the text in question was missing from the NESA site. It is now online:

I've also been made aware that there are no further volumes. More were planned, but just the one was published.

There have been a few changes since 2003!

Indeed, but CAP is not there yet - our task guides are well out of date

That makes training for new folks a challenge, no?

Absolutely!!

I advise folks to take the IS and then ICS courses as time/experience permits... these are updated more frequently than out task guides and are what the 'rest of the world' use.

While we are being held to a 15 y/o task guide and must train/certify our Members to it, the rest of the world marches on.

That is exactly what we are doing. Just odd.

I was rooting around in eServices tonight, and found a source for ES training materials.

From the home page, Operations | Operations Qualifications

About Ops Quals > Training Material

    G1000 Transition Material
    G1000 Information
    TAA Transition Training Courses
    G500 Training Course
    GTN 650 Training Course
ES Education and Training (Task Guides, Reference Texts, Slides, etc.)

Everything seems to be available from one page now. There are links out to various sources, but it's all there.
