I've been wondering how many jodies everyone knows, since they're always fun to do when drilling.

Give the name and its lyrics. And, if you can, maybe give a video of the joby being sung so the tune can be heard.

Also, if you have some other version of a jody or maybe a correction, please post it in good spirit  ;)

---

Here are three I sung/learned at the MOWG 200 Encampment:

Men at War - http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=vM22zUmithg

Sitting in my foxhole
I thought I had it made
When all of a sudden
My buddy a grenade

Chorus:
Men at Waaaaaaaaar (kill!    <-- this is optional; only the Army adds this word in)
Men at Waaaaaaaaar (kill!)
Late at night when you're sleepin', there's a drill sergeant creepin' all 'roooooooooooound
Men at Waaaaaaaaar (kill!)

Sittin' on a hilltop
Eatin' beans and franks
Then all of a sudden
The bullets start to crank

Chorus

I went to wake the Captain
I found 'im in his bed
But when I went to roll 'im over
I found he had no head

Chorus

I went to wake the Sergeant
I found 'im in his bead
But when I went to roll 'im over
He smacked me up the head

Chorus

Mama, can't you see - http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=rxrmr4nJgqA

Oh Mama, can't you see
What this Core has done for me

Put me in a barber's chair
Snip, snap, and I had no hair

And if I die in a combat zone
Box me up, and ship me home

Put me a sad dress blues
Comb my hair and shine my shoes

Pin my medals upon my chest
Tell my Momma I did my best

Oh mama, don't you cry
Marine Core motto is 'do or die'

Oh, left right left (3x)
Lefty, righty lord

A is Airborne - I cann't find a video; if you find one, please post it  ;)

Oh I found an awesome one just today, over at CS (See? CS IS useful for something! I kid, y'all are great!).  A cadet posted it and I loved it, so I'm gonna learn it just as fast as I possibly can, and sing it sooner than that.  Here it is:
Deep in the Battlefield-

Airborne
Ranger

Deep in a battle field covered in blood
Lays an Airborne Ranger dying in the mud

Airborne
Ranger

Ya hear the choppers coming, they're flying over head
They're here to take the wounded they're here to take the dead

Airborne
Ranger

Those silver wings upon his chest
Tell America that he's one of the best

Airborne
Ranger

He fought to keep america free
For kiddies just like you and me

Airborne
Ranger

-here's the link: http://www.nelsonguirado.com/index.php/Military/2007/05/06/army_cadence_deep_in_the_battlefield

Note: the cadet who posted this also made up a last verse:

So if you see a man in a red beret
Thank him for the things he's done and the prices he has paid...
...And thank him for the chance to be standing here today.

Airborne
Ranger

And he also left this:
-Note:
The Airborne Ranger parts are song like this:
Airboooo0000OO00oon
RangeeeeEEEEEEEEeer
And are about 9 steps long, each (if that makes sense).

Hope y'all enjoy!

Neither of the above is appropriate for a CAP encampment.

I usually try to restrict jodies to being at least Air Force related, or generic...

Just doesn't make sense to me to have CAP cadets talking about Rangers (the real ones...) and stuff like that.. I have always thought it was more fun to keep it relevant, especially if you can come up with a cool one about CAP.

On a bright and sunny day

On a bright and sunny day
Two good friends went out to play
and they gathered all thier money
and bought themselves a jar of honey
then the fat one ate it all
left the lil one out to crawl

now the fat ones of the run
cause the lil one gots a gun

yogi bear is dead
Bubu shot him in the head
yogi bear is dead
bubu shot him full of lead

And ranger rick was on the hill
saw bubu make the kill
now he's on the run
cause the lil one got a gun

ranger rick is dead
bubu shot him in the head
ranger rick is dead
bubu shot him full of lead

Down by the River

Down by the river
Took a little walk
Met up with [Insert Two-sylible name]
Had a lil talk

Then we pushed them [Hey!]
We threw em [Hey!]
Tossed 'em in the water
Laughed as they drowned

We don't need [Insert name]
Hangin' around

One by One

One by One We loaded our guns In the jungle, all day, and all through the night uh huh

Two by Two The Commi came through in the jungle, all day, and all through the night uh huh

Three by Three we shot out their knees in the jungle, all day, and all through the night uh huh

Four by Four they fell to the floor in the jungle, all day, and all through the night uh huh

Five by Five the rest all died in the jungle, all day, and all through the night uh huh

Six by Six ----- Having a mind block right now... will edit later-----

Seven by Seven the all went to heaven in the jungle, all day, and all through the night uh huh

I sing cadences all the time no matter what the service affiliation. California Wing has a pretty cool publication with cadences in it

I was wondering if there were any CAP-related ones, but that publication had a bunch.

Some could use some updating -- one referenced Phyliss Diller for pete's sake.

MitchCat

Oh! I know the jungle one, but with WAWG it's "on the mountain" instead of in the jungle. whoah... you could change it to "desert" and "al Qaeda" instead of "jungle/mountain" and "the commies"... Sweetness!
One by one, we loaded our guns on the mountain, all day, and all through the night, hey hey
Two by two, the commies came through ...
Three by three, we shot out their knees ...
Four by four, we shot them some more ...
Five by five, we skinned them alive ...
Six by six, we beat them with sticks ...
Seven by seven, we sent them to heaven ...
Eight by Eight, Something about steak, I forget, although using the word "lake" gets some disturbing images as well ...
Nine by nine, something with "blood" and "wine" ...
Ten by ten, we shot them again ...

I forget 8 and 9 because we usually only get to 6 or 7, and then we run out of time.  :(

Just curious, how old are you?

Apparently old enough to go fight Al Qaeda on a mountain  :D

I'm a big fan of the non killing/fighting jodies for Cadets, specifically ones that are about the Air Force. I really don't think a 12 year old Cadet should be singing about blood and guts and glory as an Army Ranger or whatever else. The closest thing to battle in CAP these days is the fight for the front of the line at the refreshment table.

One I picked up at the VAWG Encampment I thought was nifty.

ah nah, I'm not that old... Another 2 years I would be... with mum's permission.  :D  I basically have no feelings for the lunatics that go out and blow up Iraqi people and US soldiers for their "Holy Jihad for Allah". It's all about money and power anyway, so even their sketchy religious claims are false.  And then these wimpy politicians that are "serving the people" aren't helping things, either, but I don't think you could make a jody like One by One about politicians.  ;D Off Topic! sorry.

Ah, to be young, stupid, and fifteen again.

Being young, stupid, and twenty just isn't the same.

:o MitchCat I know you haven't lived long enough to really know about
life, military life (you aren't old enough to have served yet) and killing an
enemy.  It would probably help you  to learn to comment less and listen more.  Army Rangers wear tan berets.  Army Rangers used to wear black berets.  Red berets(actually maroon) are worn by U.S. Airborne Forces.
Please continue to learn and improve in your young life.  War and killing
are no fun and no game,  really everyone loses. :)

Um...everyone in MDWG seems to know this one. But I thought I post it anyway. Its a neat little PT jodie for running. (no vid sorry)
