OK, I'm showing my age here but how about the old BBC series from the 60's called UFO.

Great show, IMHO.

There was supposed to be a "UFO II" made in the '90s that never quite went anywhere; buzz emerged in '02 or '03 about another attempt, but that never went anywhere either.

Any attempt at a revival involving original cast is complicated by the fact that a few of the lead actors passed away several years ago.

Space Above and Beyond was really good. They killed it right when they were getting to the heart of the story.  You're right, it was very similar to the new BSG

S:AaB was killed over money and internal politics at the network; money that would have gone towards production was instead siphoned off to meet demands by the creator of the X Files, which was then Fox's 800lb gorilla.

Curious...how did that get there from the BSG still?

The same way the Serenity from Firefly made it into a few shots...

Trying to skew this topic off on to another tangent to see what happens.

What is your favorite part of spring. You can list upto 3 different things.

Mine in no particular order.

1. Texas Bluebonnets in the hill country.
2. Girls in short skirts instead of heavy coats.
3. Girls in short skirts sitting in a field of bluebonnets.

Very true.  We've lost the actors who played Commander Straker and Colonel Foster, as well as General Henderson (who died just weeks after the show wrapped production -- he was ill with cancer during the season).

That being said, if you were casting a new UFO, who would you put in the key roles?

The REAL burning question of television in the 1970's was: Who was hotter: Marcia Brady, or Laurie Partridge???

As an aside, Maureen McCormick was featured on TV recently and she *still* has it.

Not like Debbie Harry, who in the modern era, would have to add "Call Me + PLEASE" to her Blondie hit....

Mine too, but I think that over the years Marcia (Maureen McCormick) had a longer "shelf life."

I've got to agree on the shelf life issue...

Okay ... the best?  Simple ... Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.

The rest ... in order of my preference ... Sergio Mendez and Brasil 66 ... The Carpenters ... Herman's Hermits ... the Buckinghams.

Your mileage may vary, but I do love trumpet music.

My brother is getting married in December and we are getting our band back together.   We used to have a group called "The Fabulous Carrales Showband."  Being that most members of my family are musicians in different genres, we united with some friends and learned a few songs for public performance in 2003.

At our first gig we passed around a jar and asked that first audience for its favorite selections...  we got everything from Ray Price to the Beatles to Herb Alpert to Tejano/Spanish music...Johnny Cash...Buddy Clark...Limp Bisket...you name it.

We actually took out lots of those songs...

A typical gig was...

Amor de Mi Music (original song by me)

Tijuana Taxi

All my Lovin

Sleepwalker

Linda

Las Nubes

Samba pa ti

This Guy's In love with You

For the Good Times

Don't you care

Early in 2004 our guitarist joined US Customs and moved too far away to play...we were parked.  But, my brother's wedding resurrecteht the band!!!
