Ok, I don't know if this has been answered, and I couldn't find anything on the search. As we all know, we may begin enlisted ranks for seniors at some point. We've established that they will be worn on epaulets for the Corporate, and I think the Blues as well. What about the BDUs? Are we going to have ultramarine blue and white sew ons? I was thinking about this last night, and into this morning. Any ideas?

Right now, any CAP NCO's wear the normal AF full color stripes on their BDU's.

What are the odds that it will stay that way? I personally think this may be a cool program for seniors, but I'm trying to understand from the uniform aspect.

There is CAP NCO representation on the national Uniform Committee to address issues as it relates to CAP NCO uniforms and insignia.

And the most recent ICL addresses the issue as it relates to the Corporate Uniform.

They wear regular Air Force shoulder stripes on all uniforms. That's all.

So if members who wear NCO ranks wear BDUs, there's nothing for that? BDUs don't have shoulder straps for epaulets. That's what I was wondering.

See 39-1. They wear full color AF Stripes on their sleeves. I think the stripes come from the blue jacket.

We now also have a National Chief, CMSgt Lou E. Walpus,

According to her email, the current NCO corps consists of:

           (18) Chiefs

           (09) Seniors

-         (12) Masters

-         (08) TSgts

-         (11) SSgts

-         (04) Sgts

2 of those Chiefs are in INWG.

Are we going to start up the "does CAP need and NCO corps" argument again? :D

Just outta curiosity, can anyone E-4 and below in the RM come in as Sgt in CAP?

MIKE

No, and if E-4 has to be Corporal or Petty Officer 3rd Class to qualify.

Yes, you should avoid caffeine and spicy foods in the evening...

I thought that NHq had answered the question of Sgt vs SrA.  No?  It sounds like we're having a disconnect between SM grades and cadet grades since a cadet 3 striper is a C/SrA.  I'm thinking that the two systems should echo the current USAF grade structure.  Either one works but they should be consistent.

One of the TSgts is in WI, and has become a very good friend of mine over the past couple months.

The Knowledgebase is inconclusive. As I understand the reg, only NCOs may wear "enlisted" rank in CAP. This would include AF Sgts (pre-SrA only E-4), Navy PO3s, USMC Corporals, and non-Specialist Army E-4s. It would not include AF SrAs.

The key here is the AD definition of an NCO, and the AF implementation, now, and historically. In any event, it isn't currently tracked at NHQ, so it's up to the unit commander to make the decision.

YMMV.

Actually I just found out that they are not chiefs. Paperwork snafu. They are lower ranking NCOs. Not sure what they are though.
