I figured we have enough hats now, why not get the vote on which one's the best?  >:D

Ok, I don't mind the look of berets even though they are kinda French looking.  [darn] toad suckers....  :P But even I wouldn't wear a bright orange.  I would do anything for CAP but I won't do that.

It depends on which uniforms.

In camo I prefer the BDU cap.

In the blue field uniform, I wear a blue baseball cap, primarily because for some reason the blue BDU cap looks ridiculous.  Its the same consarn hat as the camo, but it must be a trick of the light, etc..

I found a $2.00 blue ball cap at Walmart that is the exact color of the blue field uniform.

I also tried to affix a metal insignia to it, as much "because" as anything, and it is impossible to do
without piercing your forehead, so a non-starter there.

Absolutely nothing, which is why I do not see what all the uproar is about.

Same, I picked up a nice Rothco baseball cap for DFUs. The dark blue patrol cap just doesn't look right.

I should say I was trying the metal grade on the blue castro hat, as authorized, not the baseball hat.

The pin for the frog, when properly aligned, poke through the center of the sweat band.   :(

Once you "push through" just bend the prong down with a pair of pliers.

Pathfinders?  Sheesh.  Now CAP has those plus rangers?  Can anyone say wannabees?  Why can't we find our own names for things rather than copy the Army.  I'm a pathfinder and I'm not impressed that someone else is using the name.  Names mean something. If you want to be a pathfinder, go get a torch at Ft Benning.[/drift]

Why would anyone:

(1) want to wear a beret?  If you don't wear it correctly (which most do, ESPECIALLY cadets) it looks stupid - ref the picture of our friend who posted a couple of weeks ago.  Folks usually pull it down in the back and shape it like a pizza.  I wore a green one for 20 years.  I was very proud of it. I worked like hell to earn it.  A long school with a nearly 90% fail rate, three MOSs, two languages, additional infiltration skills, and lots of injuries.  I don't see anything near that in CAP.

(2) Wear any sort of garish colored head gear?  You can't make an orange hat of any sort look good IMO.

Just wear the stuff that's on the books.  If you need a hat to be cool, you aren't.  Be yourself, not a hat rack.

The pathfinders started nearly 30 years ago, and I dont think they have run a program in the last 7-8 so I dont think you have to worry about it to much

You can hang your CAP bass fishing lure from them and it's uniform. There's some lunkers in Lake Wallenpaupack.
