What kind of music do you like? I like pop and country music from the 40's to the 70's. Like Alvino Rey & His Orchestra "Deep In The Heart Of Texas", Tex Ritter "Smoke, Smoke, That Cigarette", The Crickets "That'll Be The Day", Penguins "Earth Angel", anything from the Beatles, anything from Elvis, Petula Clark "Downtown", Harry Belafonte "Day-O", etc, etc, etc.

I love both Classic and contemporary Country, as well as some various other songs.  Some examples are:
Born Country
God Blessed Texas
Battle Hymn of the Republic
Yellow Rose of Texas
The Chair
Bluest Eyes in Texas
Convoy
Boy Named Sue
Torn
Serentiy
etc.

I'm not sure what this old Country tune is called but we heard it all the time growing up, the words...

"Oh don't forsake me Oh my darling,
On this our weddin' day,
Oh Don't forsake me oh my darin'
Await along...Wait along.

I do not know what fate awaits me...
I only know I must be brave.
And I must face a man who hates me
or lie a coward in my grave.

He made a vow while in state's Prison,
Vowed it would be my life or his an'
I ain't afraid of dying,
But what will I do if she leaves me."

Or some song that had the lines...

"You keep me waiting 'till it getting aggavating your a slow poke...
I wait and worry buy you never seem to hurry you're a slow poke...
Time means nothin' to be I wait and then...
Late again...
8 o'clock, 9 o'clock quarter to ten."

"Big John" is and old seldom played favorite.

I tend to listen to Country most of the time, but I like most other styles.  I find what I like the best are some of the country artists who became big in the 80's and 90's:

Alabama
Vince Gill
George Strait

George Strait is the MAN.  He now has over 50 number one hits, something that's almost unheard of.

Thanks...we used to listen to it on old records at my Grandpa's Ranch.  He had been a TV repairman in the old TUBE days and was given records by the record shop where he worked.

Many of those old platters were thrown away after he had passed away.  They had been stored in old sheds where the South Texas heat destroyed the 33s, dust and neglect craked and eroded the 78s and 45s.  :'(

I saved a few of them that could be.

Thus, I have a varied musical palate.

I was a young lad with two older sisters in the '60's and thus was exposed too, and continue to be a great fan of The Beatles (Saw McCartney in DC in 1991!  Great show!!).
I like too listen to Folk, Classic Country, Classic Rock, and Classical.  I am a fan of anyone who plays the acoustic guitar better than I do (which is nearly everyone!!).

My favorite contemporary singer/songwriter is a folk artist by the name of John Gorka.  He is absolutely the greatest songwriter on the planet and he should be a big, BIG star...but alas, he is mostly appreciated in folk and acoustic circles.  If you get a chance to check him out, I bet you'll like his music.

I have been in radio broadcasting since 1967 and have played all kinds of music. I have played country, pop, gospel, and middle-of-the-road music. And I have loved them all. About the only kind of music which I have not played on the radio is Tejano. I have a big CD collection which consists of  all kinds of music.
