We're 100 days from Race Weekend in Dayton. Anybody else going to be there?

This will be my fourth and my wife's third. We're both power walkers.

Usually only see Ohio cadets and senior members manning a hydration station.

Just dreaming, though -- wonder if we could get enough members together to seriously compete for the Command Trophy.

Can you provide a rundown of the event for those that have no clue about it?

It's more than just the Marathon, there is a competition for bicyclists, a race event involving the National Museum of the USAF, and a series of virtual races called the History and Heritage series. There have been as many as 15,000 participants and it is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon. For me, it is always very humbling to participate, given the challenges of some of the other participants. For senior members it might be a means to show cadets you can be competitive because the core factor is personal wellness.

In 2019 the CSAF ran the half marathon and then stood at the finish line handing out medals.

The main event is a full weekend with a sports expo, breakfast, dinner at the museum, and after-race party.

If traveling a distance, it's best to sign up early and than make reservations early.

Also, there's a discount offered to CAP Members.

This year's AF Marathon will have more CAP involvement and include more than the members from OH-037, Wright-Patterson Composite Squadron.

Historically, the local squadron has run a hydration station along the route. This year will be no different, but expect to see representation from CAP at some of the events. More to come.
