A former cadet of mine, now a long time USAF NCO, 4  combat tours in Middle East, has a family court matter with which he needs help.

If there is a CAP member who is a lawyer in the vicinity of Santa Barbara. California, willing to assist one of our own whose resources are limited, please PM contact information to me and I will put him in touch with you.

Thanks!

USAF lawyers not available or unable to help him?

My active duty adult children use the Navy lawyers.

I'm thinking he may want to get some pro bono advice
Still a major after all these years.
ES dude, leadership ossifer, publik affaires
Opinionated and wrong 99% of the time about all things

USAF JAGs will not touch it because "it is a civil matter".

Needs to call Legal Aid of Santa Barbara County if he want's pro bono .

ZigZag911

Tried that, no joy; at this point he's looking for guidance, perhaps a discounted rate if possible, not a handout.

PHall

Family law is a speciality, and it usually doesn't come cheap.
If Legal Aid wouldn't help him them he's going to have to come up with the bucks.
An alternative would be arbitration. Don't know how much that would cost through.
But it has to be less then a lawyer.

FWIW, my arbitration cost me more than the lawyer. In Vegas.
