The Incident Management Systems Division Releases Proposed
Credentialing Job Titles for the Medical and Public Health Discipline

As part of our Nation's efforts to strengthen catastrophic response
capabilities in line with the National Incident Management System
(NIMS), FEMA's Incident Management Systems Division has released
proposed Medical and Public Health job titles.

This initiative is required by Homeland Security Presidential
Directive-5 (HSPD-5) that identifies the need to develop a national
resource-typing and credentialing system in line with the National
Incident Management System to facilitate the immediate identification
and dispatch of appropriately qualified emergency personnel to major
incidents that require mutual aid. The Incident Management Systems
Division is seeking public comment on the credentialing requirements
(i.e. education, training, experience, physical/medical fitness,
certification, and licensing) for the 44 positions that would comprise
the previously established Public Health and Medical teams. The
proposed job titles are located at http://www.fema.gov/emergency/nims/rm/job_titles.shtm.

Please submit your comments no later than Friday January 4, 2008 via
the Stakeholder Review Comment Tool website found at www.alutiiq.com/feedback.php.
The Working Group will carefully consider your comments as they
finalize the resource types and credentialing criteria. Once
completed, the finalized job titles will be posted to the FEMA
Incident Management Systems Division website.
