Greetings!

The 2012 Kansas Winter Encampment is now accepting applications for Cadet Command Staff and Senior Member Staff.  Please go to the Kansas wing website at kswg.cap.gov for details about how to apply. Application deadline is 11 June 2012 for Cadet Command Staff and 09 July 2012 for all other cadet staff positions.  Non-staff (basic first time) cadets planning to attend need to apply by 1 Nov 2012.  Cost this year is $130 for Cadets and $110 for Senior Members. Any applications received after 1 Nov will incur and increased registration fee of $150. Any application received after 30 Nov will not be included on the MSA and will not fly. If you are a senior member interested in helping out, please contact us! Kansas Wing Encampment accepts applications from any CAP member regardless of home wing or squadron. Space may be limited this year so apply early to guarantee your spot at this wonderful event.

Last year's events included:
NRA Certified Rifle Shooting (most cadets earn their NRA marksmanship badge)
Obstacle Course
KC-135 Orientation Ride
Black Hawk Orientation
And lots more. We are hoping to get these same events this year.

CESSnA (Cadet Encampment Staff Selection Activity) will be held 4 Aug 2012 in Kansas and 11 August 2012 in Colorado. If you apply for cadet staff please ensure that you can make one of these staff selection activities and if you will not be able to please let us know up front. We will also be holding three PIPER (Properly Instruct and Prepare Encampment Readiness) sessions simultaneously in Kansas and Colorado on 15 Sep, 20 Oct, and 17 Nov 2012 That ALL STAFF CADETS AND SENIORS will be expected to attend. There is a possibility for using distance learning technology for those that are unable to travel or where travel is not feasible.

This year will be the best yet!  We plan to have an all female cadet flight for our Cadet Basics (first time cadets), and two advanced training schools co-located with encampment, one focusing on Honor Guard and the other on Emergency Services . Prepare to host an Honor Guard at your home squadron or earn your GTM3 certification over your holiday break! If you haven't attended encampment, completion of the 2012 winter encampment makes you eligible to apply for NCSAs by the January 2013 application deadline.  It is also a great way to gain leadership experience to bring back to your home state.

The North Central Region Cadet Leadership School will also be co-located with the encampment. More information will be forthcoming on this activity.

If you have questions about encampment please send them to encampment@kswg.cap.gov.

Isn't April a little early to start asking for staff applications for a Winter Encampment?

Basic applications are being accepted right now, as well as Senior Member applications. On November 1st, the price increases from 130$ to 150$ and you are no longer guaranteed a seat on a KC-135 set to refuel B-2's over the smoky hill's bombing range!! Get in on the action now!
In god we trust, all others we run through NCIC
