KA-BAR Short or SOG Knife?

I am considering a couple of knives for bushcraft/utility use, beyond my SOG multi-tool.

I was thinking about the KA-BAR Short or the SOG Pup Elite.

I know KA-BAR, but the one I have is decades old, used by my grandfather in CAP, and the quality of those older knives is top-notch.

Experiences with either?  I was thinking the polymer handle with the KA-BAR.

I have had one of these for many years and it has paid for itself many times over: https://www.bestglide.com/morakniv-companion-swedish-army-knife.html Composite handle, sheath is a bit flimsy but you can find leather replacements, full tang, sharpened one time in the decade plus that I've owned it. Holds an edge very well.

I have a WW2 vintage kabar with a field made hilt that my great uncle carried on Guadalcanal. That knife went on multiple deployments with me, just to say I did. It lived in my pack and never saw use. My day to day knife was a Gerber LMT at the time. I have broken two KaBars and a USAF survival knife batoning wood and performing other field craft tasks. I now carry a Mora bushcraft knife with a flat grind high carbon steel blade. Awesome little knife, very robustly made and costs less than 20 bucks to replace if/when I break it.

Consider the RAT5. OAL is within CAP regs and is overall a good knife.

I stumbled upon a quartermaster knife many years ago and have been very pleased with it. Sturdy as a farm girl and holds an edge for longer than it should. Great knife for a great price.
