Title: Level II Complete!!! On to Level III
Post by: abdsp51 on September 07, 2012, 09:21:58 PM
My tech rating was just approved today and that was my last step for completion of Level II.  With my upcoming move it will be time to  start looking @ Level III .

Great. Have you sent in the CAPF 24 yet?

Where are you moving to?

Fantastic, once you complete the CAPF24 and your commander approves it, they can email it direct to NHQ, which records it pretty quickly.

If you have not done your Yeager test yet, get it done before you submit for level II completion, that way you get a spiffy gold seal on your Davis Certificate.

The paperwork for my level II has been submitted already to our group here.  I am moving from the wonderful bay area down to Tucson at the end of next month. And the Yeager was accomplished shortly after I joined and I received it before I was promoted back in Mar I want to say.

Ah so it goes through the Group in CA wing?

CAPF24 for level II only requires your unit CC and it can go direct to NHQ.

Per the email I have it was sent to the group for them to approve.  I set out to have my Level II done before coming to Lackland for school and by the time I left all that was left was just my tech rating in CP.  That was accomplished shortly before flying out and the final stone was just waiting the couple weeks to hit my 6 mos mark for filling the duty position.  I'm taking the time to just ease off for a little bit, now all I have to do is the TIG and performance to move to 1st Lt then Capt.

Interesting..Level III and above require higher approval after the Unit CC, but Level II should be approved by the unit CC then to NHQ for processing:

Page 2 of the CAPF24:

Benjamin O. Davis, Jr. award:

a. Complete Item 8.Unit commander approves and forwards original to NHQ CAP/DP, Building 714, 105 South Hansell Street, Maxwell AFB AL 36112-6332.Retain one copy for unit file.

(can be emailed direct to NHQ instead of snail mail).

I saw that too but CA wg as others can attest to is it's own animal.

From what I've seen adding additional layers of pointless complexity on top of regulation is right up there in the list of things that drive away members.

True, but I'm tenacious enough to stay on top of it.

My CAPF 24 for Level II went directly from the squadron to NHQ. No group grope needed. I'm in CAWG, and this was done back in '03.

Which boggles my mind here.  As long as the Squadron CC has signed off on the CAPF24 for Level II, NHQ is going to record it.
Mine was posted into eservices within 48 hours of it being emailed direct from my squadron CC to NHQ.

Heck there's not even a space on the form for the Group CC to sign off on the CAPF24, nor is it required for Level II. @_@

Sending a CAPF 24 for level II to group for approval is not required in CAWG. Doing so will most certainly delay the process. The Squadron Commander should send the approved form directly to NHQ,  preferably as an attachment to an email sent to Lmmeforms@capnhq.gov.

It's all good.  Paperwork was sent to NHQ for Level II, 2a approved for leadership award and I've completed it all right around the time I set out to do.

Very nice!

I've been trying to get mine to go through since March. I still haven't gotten an answer on why it won't go through.

Typical CT: stew about it for six months then complain here!  ;)

For the other PD awards, I used to first set out to find the road block. Here there's only one desk: the Professional Development Registrar. I doubt that she has let it sit in her "In Basket" for six months. Assuming that everything was proper on your CAPF 24, if you follow the instructions and the squadron sends it directly to NHQ, it should appear in eServices within hours.

Hee hee, Thanks Astra!

I've sent the forms in, and even talked with NHQ. All the did was tell me to look at the regs for it. I quoted the regs in my next email, along with the attachment (again), and still nothing. My squadron PDO has done the same, and no response. I'm going to check on it again tomorrow.

Fun stuff...  ;)

If your squadron PDO doesn't know what's happening, his next inquiry should be to Wing DPD. It's his job to resolve these types of issues.

I'm guessing that you're using cadet experience as credit towards your Level II. As an Eaker cadet, I hope that you are. There are very specific requirements on requesting that credit.

Also, emailed applications must come from the squadron commander, from his specific email account that's registered in eServices. That's what NHQ considers an electronic signature on the document. It is not appropriate for members to be submitting their own PD applications directly to NHQ.

No, you need to have a Technician rating in a specialty track, not just have a specialty track.  Depending on the specialty track, it takes time.

-Technician in a specialty track
-Officer Basic Course (or PME equiv)
-SLS

Thats what i did for OBC.  And when I complete my course 14 hopefully I'll be able to use that towards RSC or NSC.

My CC was the one that sent it in the first, and second time. When nothing was coming from it, he asked me to inquire about it.

I am using my cadet experience for my Level II, and I can't find anything in the regs on why it would be held up after the first and second letter where sent in properly.

Anyone have any idea on this?

EDIT: Tired to fix the quote, and didn't work...

Aren't we all looking for that elusive secret reg that lists who gets to hold up which request for the what reasons. No one is holding up to the light the photocopied-scanned-FAXed attachment of your Earhart certificate to determine if it's been doctored or forged.  ;)

As far as I can tell, it's a simple data-entry "problem." Cadets who earned the Mitchell receive credit for Level I; this goes back at least 40 years. Today, "Mitchell" in your cadet record in eServices seems to automatically trigger an entry of "Foundations." The newly-approved credit for Earhart still requires someone in NHQ/DP to manually enter "SLS" ("Earhart equivalent"?) in your record. Then and only then will you be able to complete Level II.

EMT-3 is right: talk to your Wing Director of PD. He/she should contact NHQ/DP and resolve this fairly easily.

+10

Jen at NHQ/PD is great to deal with. I was able to hit refresh in services while on the phone with her and see issues fixed.

No, I said the PDO should talk to the DPD. It's amazing how quickly problems can get solved when the proper procedures and chain of command are followed.

Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the DPD is such a VIP, shouldn't he keep conversation with the PDO on the QT? 'Cause if it leaks to the CC he could end up SOL, and then we'd all be put on 2B.

I love NyQuil...

My Level II has finally gone through! It only took 6 months to process it, but it's there.

Now for TIG to Capt.

Funny how they say the older you get, the faster time goes by. Even at a young age, I'm seeing it. So not too long now.  ;)
