Title: O flights during encampment
Post by: nomiddlemas on May 12, 2014, 08:56:15 PM
Hey guys im going to the NC wing encampment pretty soon.  I am wondering:
A- if they offer flight time at the encampment? Its at fort stanely
B- I have already completed all my O-Flight and I am a student solo pilot so what will I do while younger cadets are flying?
C- If I can, could I just get backseat flight time?

B - If there is "99-ride" (backseat) funding available, you may be slotted or could request those flights.
99 rides help wings with their O-Ride numbers as well as your unit with the Squadron of Merit award, so
they are encouraged if there is time and money.

C - See B

A - Encampment was discussed at the NCWG Commander's Call last weekend, and there will be cadet o-flights.
B - Most likely something else.
C - You can ask, but don't get your hopes up.

The reason for answers B and C is that there are limits to the amount of o-flights that can be conducted, and that means that priority has to be cadets that have never flown, cadets with o-flight eligibility left, and then everyone else.  That said...

There IS a glider in NCWG, and if they take it to encampment, you may be eligible for some Merlin stick time.
