Me coming back from Oshkosh. My buddy Tim and I flew there in his bright orange Harmon Rocket II. I don't think I've had more fun at an aviation event ever...and I've been to more than several dozen in my career.

I have no idea where that symbol is, but I know it was the same one on my husband's grandfathers uniform!! He was a brigadier sergeant during WWII! We have been searching for years for information about the army air force!! Can't seem to find anything out though!

Sergeant Major maybe?

The USAAC was the precursor to the USAF.  Lots here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Army_Air_Forces
but there's plenty of into out there.

Well, my Google-fu tells me Louisville, Kentucky. The current iteration of that command is at Randolph AFB, Texas.
